Welcome to the old western frontier
Yehaw! Howdy partner. If you have a moment to get off your horse and drink your milk, then you’ll also have time to play (and complete) Virtuous Western, the 8-bit puzzler from Nibb Games and Ratalaika.
At $4.99/£4.99, this old school head-scratcher brings all the fun of the wild west right to your fingertips as you play through 30 levels of cerebral combat, outsmarting the rustlers who stole your horse in all manner of fun and explosive ways.
The toughest gunslinger in the wild west!
The comic book style of Virtuous Western, combined with the punchy pace of the levels make this one of the more fun puzzle games we’ve played on the Nintendo Switch in quite some time.
The only real downside with the game is that it’s too short. With only 30 levels, none of which should take more than a couple of attempts to master and a few minutes (if that) to complete it’s over before it even gets started. The increased difficulty of the final level is the only reason I didn’t manage to complete Virtuous Western in a flat half hour, but the more nimble-fingered readers out there will probably smash that. In fact, VW probably works best as something you can speed run with your mates than it does a single-player experience, so be sure to saddle up your magnificent seven to see who really is the good, the bad and the ugly.
Sure, Virtuous Western is overpriced for what you get, but there’s no complaints in the fun department. I had no idea what to expect when I took on this review and quite honestly that made playing even more fun. Sometimes it’s just nice to pick up a game that you can play easily in a single sitting to pass the time, and is an infinitely more appealing option than painting your wagon.
