They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, and now The Addams Family is coming back to the small screen, courtesy of the only man who could ever truly do them justice, Tim Burton.
Although the recent MGM animated movie was lots of fun, and fantastically close to the original pencil sketches, it’s about time someone resurrected Charles Addams’ crazy creations for a live-action adaptation, one that lives up to Barry Sonnenfeld’s genius hit movies. That’s where Tim Burton comes in.
According to Deadline, “Burton is negotiating to executive produce and possibly direct all episodes of this new take on the franchise”. Alfred Gough and Miles Miller, of Smallville fame, have already been approached to write and act as showrunners, with MGM coughing up the cash for the project, which is rumoured to be heading to Netflix.
It will be very interesting who Burton chooses to cast in the various roles, and whether or not Christina Ricci will be willing to reprise her role as Wednesday, albeit an adult version. We’re sure she’d make for an interesting choice as Morticia too, but we have a feeling that role could go to Burton favourite Eva Green.
