Sony’s PlayStation 5 is set for a holiday launch and even though the pre-orders got a little bit messy and confusing, fans are still anticipating the console’s release in excitement. As usual, with a new console, new games would be wrapped up in it like a sweet surprise. Note that some of these games have a release window of 2021, as the year is already coming to an end.
The PlayStation 5 was revealed back in June and the world immediately decided they wanted to throw their money at it. Honestly, we don’t blame them. The overall improved hardware and software is every bit as tempting as an ice cold glass of water on a blazingly hot day. There are a variety of games included in this list, in order to cater to the various tastes of players and the many fanbases out there – so expect a rather varied list.
Here’s some of the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusives that most of us are dying to get our hands on and would perhaps interest you as well, but before we get into it, remember to get some PlayStation Gift Cards to go along with these games! Let’s go!
Spider-Man: Miles Morales
With all the hype Spider-Man caused in the previous generation console, Insomniac would probably never put the title to rest. Honestly, a small part of us really wishes they would never stop making these high quality Spider-Man games. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a standalone game following the events of the first game, much like a spin-off rather than a sequel.
The game will showcase the capabilities of PS5’s newly minted SSD. Combine this with the haptic feedback of the PS5’s Dual Sense Controller and swinging around throughout a city could never feel more real.
Players will embody Miles Morales as he takes on the responsibility of protecting his city and becoming Spider-Man. Miles had learned from his mentor in the previous game and this is his time to shine.
Horizon Forbidden West
Through a bombing release by Horizon: Zero Dawn that had garnered a steady fanbase comes Horizon: Forbidden West. This game is a highly demanded sequel to the single player open world adventure and the developers decided to give the people what they want. Good job developers!
Horizon: Forbidden West will take place in what looks like the remains of the US, with more mechanical monsters and challenges to get through. This game, if it lives up to its predecessor – will be one of the most visually stunning games out there and we are excited to see how it plays out with a highly capable console like the PS5.
A remake by Japan Studio and Bluepoint Games, the last Demon’s Souls was released for the PS3 way back in 2009 – it’s been well over 10 years from then. This game has been etched into the minds of its players ever since due to its impossibly hard combat. That’s great, because now the newer generation will get to experience that same frustration.
This newer version of the game will bring better graphics and fluid-like movements to the characters, especially when they go through battle. Loading times will be significantly faster and ‘vaulting’ will be reintroduced as well. Our only advice is to not chuck your controller in frustration as you go through the game – don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
Another title from Insomniac, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a cartoonish, kid-friendly platform-shooter hybrid expanding on the adventures of the two characters. The game is said to put the PlayStation 5’s lightning quick SSD load times to the test as characters were shown switching between worlds in an instant during the showcase.
The game is about Ratchet and Clank traversing through different worlds and dimensions set in different times – the future and the past. This is all done to save the world from complete space and time damage caused by the villain; Dr. Nefarious. The characters are able to teleport in a whim to get to where they need to be, this is where the speedy load times will prove to be a plus. Nobody likes waiting around staring at a loading screen right?
Godfall was revealed last December during the 2019 Video Game Awards and has been widely anticipated by fans since then. This game by Gearbox and Counterplay Games seems to be a third-person loot shooter, reminiscent of games like Destiny and The Division 2.
Players will get to don ornately designed armour plates – known as Vaporplates – as they go around killing huge monsters. A fun aspect of the game is that these Vaporplates will help players transform into masters of combat and they can swap between a variety of Vaporplates as well. A slight catch is that they have to be earned through battle, but we’re certain that with enough practice, you’ll get through it.
Gran Turismo 7
Here comes another Gran Turismo game, as always. Honestly, who doesn’t enjoy a good racing game once in a while? It definitely gets the blood pumping, with its adrenaline-inducing realistic graphics. There’s literally a racing game out there for every platform and age group. Racing games will probably never go out of style.
Gran Turismo 7 will feature the return of the GT Simulation Mode as well as other classic features such as Special Events, Championships, Driving School, Tuning Parts Shop, Used Cars Dealership, GT Auto, GT Sport Mode and Brand Central. The game doesn’t have a scheduled release date yet, but it is anticipated for a 2021 release. A rushed game won’t be a good game anyway, and we promise this one would be well worth the wait.
These are some of the many PlayStation 5 exclusives set to launch within the 2020 – 2021 timeline. Hopefully, you’re as excited as we are in trying them out – making this list just builds on the excitement that we have and now we can’t wait to see how these games perform.
Will it be good, will it be bad? We’ll just have to see. Any other PlayStation 5 exclusive that you’re looking forward to that’s not on this list? Do let us know in the comments below! All thoughts are welcome.
