If you’ve been waiting to pick up your BFG 9000 and blast some nasties back to Hell in the new Doom sequel, then you’re probably going to be disappointed. Just don’t turn that weapon on us OK? Literally, do not shoot the messenger.
Doom Eternal is the long-awaited follow up to the awesome Doom 2016 and had originally been slated for release next month. This all changed today though when id Software and Bethesda announced the game required a little tweaking and would now see a release on 20th March 2020.
The disappointing delay is a result of Bethesda’s desire to make sure they’re “delivering the best experience”, which is corporate-speak for “it isn’t ready”. But if this means the impending battle with the undead hellspawn of the doom-iverse is as incredibly violent and awesome as possible then I guess we can’t really complain.
Anybody who pre-orders Doom Eternal on the Nintendo Switch will also receive a copy of Doom 64 Remastered, which is scheduled for release on the same day as Eternal. So it’s not all doom-and-gloom after all.
