KINGDOM COME DELIVERANCE

Time for a good old fashioned revenge story, set in 1403 Bohemia, you take control of Henry, not exactly a name that will strike fear into the hearts of your enemies, but your actions might. On your quest for vengeance, you get drawn into a plot to restore the rightful king to the throne. The focus of the gameplay is on realism, you won’t be waving your sword around like a witcher or winning fights with a roly-poly, instead, expect precision and accuracy to be the order of the day to survive in this beautifully realised historical setting.

THE BARDS TALE TRILOGY

Time for a bit of old school, The Bards Tale Trilogy has been given the remaster treatment and is now available to enjoy on Xbox One. Originally released in 1985, Bards Tale is a narrative-heavy experience where item management and problem-solving will be required as you venture through various lands and dungeons to save the world from evil wizards, moody mages and dastardly god’s.

RESIDENT EVIL 4

Resident Evil 4 is revered by most to be the best entry in the series, originally released on the GameCube, RE4 has been ported and remastered on just about every console since. Taking control of series pretty boy Leon Kennedy you head off to Europe in search of the presidents missing daughter only to find something evil is afoot. Taking a break from Mansions and Zombies you are now up against a dark occult as you traverse woodlands, villages and castles to save the day. Featuring some of the best set pieces of the entire series you owe it to yourself to give this a try.

MY TIME AT PORTIA

Slowing things down a bit now, why not head off to the beautiful island of Portia where you can take over your dad’s old workshop and start helping the locals restore their town to greatness. Featuring farming, stonework, mining, relationship management, an assortment of mini-games and even a dose of dungeon crawling, you will soon learn that there is more to this charming town than meet’s the eye.

OLD MANS JOURNEY

Doing exactly what it says on the tin, old man’s journey is a story about an old man going on a journey. Obviously, there is more to it than that, as you travel across a beautifully hand-drawn landscape you must move the land to allow the old man to continue his journey. It certain sections he will sit down and think about his past filling in the gaps of this heartwarming yet melancholy story. Though not the most challenging game you will ever play it is certainly worth a look if you fancy something a little less hectic.

SUNSET OVERDRIVE

We all know that too many fizzy drinks are bad for you but Insomniac Games took things one step further as consumers of the popular energy drink FizzCo have begun turning into mutants and it’s down to you to save the day. Featuring a bright and flashy art style, wall running, rail grinding and zip lining and all manner of inventive weapons (anyone familiar with Ratchet and Clank will know what to expect) Insomniac delivered a much-needed dose of pick up and play fun to the Xbox One’s launch line up.

RYSE: SON OF ROME

Ryse: Son of Rome takes place in an alternative Rome that play’s it loosely with historical accuracy but makes up for it with awesome set pieces and some top of the line production value. Take control of Marius as he begins life as a soldier fending of the Celtic tribes through to his vengeance in a plot riddled with political scandal and backstabbing in true Roman form. Obvious nod’s to Gladiator and Spartacus aside, this is an enjoyable and brutal adventure albeit with slightly repetitive combat due to the original design for Kinect being thrown in.

With more than 100 titles on offer at any given time, now is the time to get on board with what might be the best value for money on the gaming market right now!
