WWE 2K20: 10 Wrestlers We Want as DLC

Reading Time: 5 minutes

This week, WWE and 2K Games unveiled both Roman Reigns and ‘The Man’ Becky Lynch as the cover stars for the upcoming WWE 2K20 title. The choices were not all that unexpected, particularly as Lynch is one of the biggest names in the company at the moment, and is hot off a headlining effort with Ronda Rousey at this years WrestleMania.

In addition to these two names, several other prominent movers and shakers of the day were announced as appearing, as well as legends of the ring such as Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage, Chyna, and the Big Boss Man.

With the exception of DX founding member Chyna (oh, and Papa Shango), there has so far been very little to get excited about with the roster, due in large part to WWE’s on-going grudges with various former talents. But here at TBG, we don’t think that’s good enough, so we’ve taken matters into our own hands to come up with 10 wrestlers we want to see as DLC in WWE 2K20

10. MARTY JANNETTY

WWE The Rockers.png

Marty Jannetty might be a controversial figure these days, but back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, he was a mainstay of WWE television as one-half of the incredible Rockers tag team. With Shawn Michaels by his side, Jannetty looked set for superstardom but following the teams’ demise he never really found his niche in the company, despite still being an above-average performer. Unbelievably, no one at WWE or 2K has ever thought to have Jannetty reunite with HBK to reform the team as part of the whole Legends mode.

9. DOINK THE CLOWN

Wait a second. Before you jump down our throats, we mean the original Matt Borne incarnation of the character – the sadistic, child-hating Clown that could actually wrestle. That’s the version we want as DLC, please.

8. DUKE ‘THE DUMPSTER’ DROESE

WWE Duke Droese

The real-life Mike Droese is enjoying something of a career renaissance lately, largely thanks to a very entertaining shoot interview and his ever-amusing Twitter and Facebook pages. Sure, the guy isn’t exactly what you’d describe as a legend, but he did have some really fun matches with Triple h back in the day and would be a nice, fun addition to the DLC packages.

7. HAKUSHI

WWE Hakushi.png

Hakushi made his debut in the mid-1990s and remained undefeated for a short while before eventually falling to Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart at an In Your House PPV. Hakushi was way ahead of his time, with a wrestling style that wouldn’t look out of place on 205 Live in 2019.

6. BIG DADDY

Big Daddy (Wrestler).png

Shirley Crabtree was the United Kingdom’s answer to Hulk Hogan. Wrestling as Big Daddy, Crabtree was the unbeatable behemoth of the old-school British scene and would make a fun little addition to the 2K20 roster.

5. JAZZ

WWE Jazz.png

The only reason Jazz didn’t have a bigger run in WWE was because she had the unfortunate luck of signing with the company at a time when women’s wrestling was all about bra and panty matches, and not actual athletic competition. She’s appeared in WWE games in the past, and as far as we can tell has no heat with the company, so why not bring her back as DLC this year?

4. THE NASTY BOYS

WWE The Nasty Boys.png

Love them or hate them, Knobbs and Sags were a staple of the WWF tag team division in the early 1990s, competing in at least 2 memorable matches against The Hart Foundation and The Legion of Doom, before venturing to WCW and relative obscurity ever since. Their act certainly wasn’t pretty, and neither were their faces, but they definitely had a certain appeal to them that would make them worthy additions to the WWE 2K20 roster.

3. NAKED MIDEON

WWE Mideon.png

Yup. For a few weeks in the Attitude Era, Mideon used to perform as Naked Mideon, wearing nothing except a bum bag/fanny pack to cover his, erm, shame. He’s never going to make any WWE videogame in this form, but how funny would it be if he did?

2. AKIRA HOKUTO

WWE Akira Hokuto.png

Who? Akira Hokuto was the first-ever WCW Women’s Champion, defeating Madusa (aka Alundra Blayze) in the finals way back in 1996. She was a fearsome competitor who appeared all over the world, wrestling at the very top level for 2 decades. Hokuto would be a welcomed addition to the women’s roster and would fit right in with names like Asuka.

1. JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER

WWE NXT Jushin Thunder Liger.png

Jushin Liger is set to retire in January of 2020, but despite a career that spans over 35 years he has only ever appeared on WWE TV once, at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in 2015. As fun as that match was, its surprising WWE hasn’t ever called upon his services before or since, not even as a special appearance in a Royal Rumble match.  It would be a nice tribute to the legendary wrestlers’ career though if someone at WWE made the decision to include him in WWE 2K20 to see how he holds up against the high-flyers of today.
