WWE: NXT Results & Recap – July 31st, 2019

This week’s episode started with Tyler Breeze vs Jaxson Ryker. There was a spot where Ryker caught Breeze into a uranage-like hold and walked around with him effortlessly. I thought that was pretty impressive but other than that there wasn’t much going on in this match. Breeze would roll up Ryker after he attempted that move again and get the pin. The Forgotten Sons immediately came into the ring to beat up Breeze. But this didn’t last long because Fandango would make his return to the ring and cleaned house. Breezango is back, baby!

After this, we get a quick segment of Candice LeRae pacing back and forth waiting for Io Shirai out in the parking lot.

The last semifinal match of the Breakout Tournament was next with Bronson Reed vs Cameron Grimes. This was an OK match. I already miss Angel Garza being out of the tournament. Grimes would win with his leaping double stomp to the chest and will go on to face Jordan Myles in the finals at TakeOver: Toronto.

We got a couple of promos following this. First, Matt Riddle tells Killian Dane to fight him face to face so he can return the favour. Right after that, it is announced that they’ll have their match next week. Next, Shayna Baszler comes to the ring. She’s not happy with what Mia Yim has done to Duke and Shafir. She advises that we’re not in the streets, this is professional wrestling and that street rats don’t survive very long in her world. Yim comes out to asks Baszler if she’s scared and wants to know where Duke and Shafir are at. Yim adds that this street rat is going to be bringing a fight you can’t train for. Baszler says she’s nothing but street trash and walks out of the ring. Last, Regal meets LeRae outside and informs her that Shirai isn’t here. LeRae wants Shirai at TakeOver and Regal agrees to the match.

The main event was next with Roderick Strong vs Pete Dunne. This was a great match with not any bit of outside interference going on. Dunne would win by submission with some hand-joint manipulation. After the match, Velveteen Dream would sneak up from behind but Dunne catches him. Strong advise’s them that he is going to win at TakeOver while exiting the ring. While Dream starts to pose, Dunne snaps Dreams fingers then delivers the Bitter End as the show comes to an end.

And that wraps it up for this week’s episode. Next week, the Street Profits and Undisputed Era have their contract signing for the tag titles and we also have Matt Riddle vs Killian Dane scheduled so far. Thanks for reading and long live wrestling!
