Dark Horse Dusts Off ‘The Mask’ Comic Series Ahead of 30th Anniversary
Ahead of The Masks 30th anniversary, Dark Horse has announced it will be publishing a brand new 4-issue limited-run comic.
You probably remember The Mask best as the 1994 OTT comedy movie starring rubber-faced Canadian Jim Carrey, but for a generation of comic book fans, it was also a violent and anarchic funny book created by Doug Mahnke and John Arcudi, and published by Dark Horse.
Well now, ahead of the characters 30th anniversary, Dark Horse has announced it will be publishing a brand new 4-issue limited-run comic series, written by Christopher Cantwell, who is perhaps better known for his work on AMC’s acclaimed drama series Halt and Catch Fire.
In an interview with Forbes, published Mike Richardson promised that the new series, which is titled The Mask: I Pledge Allegiance to the Mask!, will be true to the roots of the early comics, with a much darker tone and plenty of violence. It will also offer up Big Head’s take on the whole Donald Trump saga because if there was ever a time that we needed the big, green-faced goon, it’s now!
Issue #1 of The Mask: I Pledge Allegiance to the Mask! goes on sale Oct. 16.
