Well, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle! Sega is finally bringing the popular Super Monkey Ball franchise to Nintendo Switch, and we couldn’t be happier if you’d given us a box of bananas.
The news has not come directly from Sega, but instead via a post on Taiwan’s Digital Game Rating Committee page (no link as the page isn’t secure). A Sega spokesperson refused to comment on what is essentially a rumour.
The new game, which will also be released on PC and PlayStation 4, will be called Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball – which translates as Ripe! Super Monkey Ball from the original Japanese.
Super Monkey Ball began its life back in 2001 but found much of its success after being ported to the GameCube. A new addition to the franchise will be the first new console game since Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz, which was originally released on the PS Vita in 2012.
We’ll bring you more on this story when – or if – we get anything more concrete.
