Xbox Game Pass – Collections Special

Reading Time ~ 6 minutes

It’s no secret that we at Two Beard Gaming are fond of Xbox Game Pass, possibly the best value for money gaming has ever offered. This month we have put together an extra list featuring collections that are currently available. If you missed out on an entry of a popular series, haven’t played the originals or just want to revisit some classic sagas, we have you covered!

HALO: The Master Chief Collection

The Master Chief, Xbox’s long-running mascot is still going strong, with the much-anticipated Halo: Infinite set to be a launch title for Microsoft’s new behemoth somewhere down the road, now might be the perfect time to jump into big green’s boots and witness the story from the very begging up to the cliffhanger ending of Halo 5.

Halo MCC collects the remastered versions of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo 2: Anniversary, both have been lovingly revamped with improved visuals that really get a chance to shine by being able to switch between the original graphics to the remastered ones on the fly. Halo 2 also boasts a completely remastered set of cut scenes and audio to really freshen up the experience. Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 are included in pretty much their 360 forms but both still look very impressive with Halo 5 being available separately which sees Master Chief reunite with blue team as they are hunted down by Jameson Locke’s Osiris squad. Halo Reach, considered by many to be the best in the series is also due to be added anytime now to sweeten the pot!

If the big green one doesn’t do it for you, then why not take a look at Microsoft’s other big shooter, Gears Of War! With GOW5 due for release on the 6th of September, why not get yourself up to speed on the story so far. Epic’s brutal and bloody sci-fi shooter pack’s a punch with its emphasis on cover shooting and close quarters executions will all campaigns available to be played in co-op.

Follow the story of Marcus Pheonix and his companions across the original trilogy, all available in their 360 forms followed by GOW: Judgement, the prequel that had mixed reviews but managed to bring a few new gameplay mechanics to the table. If that isn’t enough to satisfy you then GOW: The Ultimate Edition is also available, a remaster of the original made all slick and shiny for modern audiences, plus with the original campaign being pretty short it’s a sure way to double dip on achievements, savvy! The icing on the cake comes in the form of GOW: 4, follow JD, Marcus’s son on a new adventure against a new menacing enemy and get yourself ready for the next blood-soaked instalment this fall!

BORDERLANDS: The Handsome Collection

We’re gonna be honest and say this isn’t quite a full collection due to the absence of the original which can now be played either backward compatible or via a recently released remaster, but The Handsome Collection is where the real fun is at! Collecting a remastered version of Borderlands 2 which introduced us to one of the best gaming villains of all time, Handsome Jack! You and up to three friends can blast your way across Pandora in one of the most outrageous, hilarious and fun FPS titles on the market, filled with more loot than Diablo and packaging together enough DLC to make a whole new game you really don’t want to miss out!

If facing down the handsome one leaves you wanting more, then you are in luck as Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is also available with all DLC for you to witness the origins of this loveable asshole. Borderlands 3 is set to grace us on September 13th and Gearbox has been kind enough to add some free DLC to BL2 that leads into the highly anticipated sequel, grab some friends and have a blast!

BATMAN: The Arkham Collection

“And where, is the Batman?…..he’s at home, washing his tights!” at least that’s what the criminals of Gotham City wish as the caped crusader’s spectacular outing is now fully available on Game Pass. Kicking things off with the Return to Arkham package which provides remastered versions of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, complete with all DLC.

Tipped as possibly the best superhero video game series ever created with a mature rating and twisting plot line not to mention Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprising their respective roles as Batman and The Joker. Follow Brucey boy as he takes on his entire rogues gallery with the help of the Batfamily and a rather hench looking Commissioner Gordon (that’s the unreal engine for you)

BatmanAK07/07/2015 , 05:35:38Batman™: Arkham Knight

Just when you thought it was safe to take off your cape, Batman: Arkham Knight has now been added to Game Pass and brings this stunning trilogy to a dramatic ending as the events of Asylum and City reach boiling point. Plus you finally get to tear around and open world Gotham in the Batmobile!

METRO: Redux & Exodus

Fancy a change of pace from high octane action and bat pants? then step into the world of METRO. Based on Dimitry Glukhovsky’s popular novels, METRO: Redux brings the first two titles to Game Pass in remastered form. Venture through the claustrophobic ruins of The Metro system in a sci-fi survival, horror set in post-apocalyptic Russia.

Both titles offer tense gameplay and gripping stories to work your way through and if you survive the tight confines of the Metro and feel like you want some more, METRO: Exodus has recently been added, 2019’s entry in the series adds open world elements and shows the world on a much larger scale while still retaining the tight gameplay and tension that made the first two so popular. If you haven’t tried the METRO series yet then what are you waiting for?

And there you have it, some fantastic collections all available on Game Pass with more being added each month. What have you been playing on Game Pass lately?
