WWE: NXT Results & Recap – June 12th, 2019

Reading Time ~ 2 minutes

This week’s show started Candice LeRae and Io Shirai vs Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. I wasn’t expecting much out of this one since it was Duke and Shafir’s first televised match without Baszler, but this match was a lot of fun. Baszler stayed on the ramp up until Io started using some joint manipulation attacks that Baszler is known for. As Baszler started making her way to the ring, chaos ensued. This lead to a double disqualification, but this wouldn’t stop the mayhem to stop from pouring into the crowd.

Following this was a super quick promo from the Velveteen Dream. After giving himself a couple of compliments which at first sounded like he was talking about his championship title, he commented “Ready for the next Experience? Dream on.”

After this was the first match of our double main event with Kushida vs Drew Gulak in a submission match. There was a lot of nice technical wrestling here with some smooth transitions into submissions. Kushida would come out with the win after delivering his penalty kick followed by Hoverboard Lock. The crowd was pleased with this match and gave the two competitors a standing ovation afterwards. I’d like to see more Gulak on NXT. He doesn’t seem as appreciated on 205 Live.

Next up was a segment for Vanessa Borne and Aliyah. They’re not sure why Mia Yim thinks she’s next in line for a title shot and thinks they both deserve it over here. They also think she needs to level up and become a high calibre woman. This was easily their best promo they’ve done and they seem to be getting a lot more comfortable with their dynamic with each other and better on the mic. Good for them.

The final match of the double main event was Undisputed Era vs Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. This was another great match on the card. After a back and forth match, Jaxson Ryker came down to the ring and started beating up security. This distracted the Undisputed Era and Burch would take advantage and roll up O’Reilly for the win. This would cause a stare down between Ryker and the Undisputed Era as the show came to an end.

And that wraps it up for this week’s NXT. This week was light on the promos and heavy on the action, and that action was very entertaining. Next week we have Damian Priest back in action after a long hiatus and in two weeks Shayna Baszler defends her title against Io Shirai in a steel cage match. Thanks for reading and long live wrestling!
