Earlier this week, the internet was buzzing at the news that Sigourney Weaver would be reprising her role as Dana Barrett in the upcoming new Ghostbusters movie. Well now, on the movies 35th anniversary, director Jason (son of Ivan) Reitman has announced Weaver isn’t the only original cast member who’s seen the script.
During an appearance at the Ghostbusters Fan Fest in Los Angeles, California, Reitman had this to say:
“Sigourney has read the screenplay…Dan has read it…Ernie’s read the script…Bill Murray has read the script. If all goes as planned, we’re gonna start shooting in five weeks.”
Although none of the OG Ghostbusters were confirmed as appearing in the threequel, this is the biggest hint so far that Reitman’s vision is exactly what fans and cast members alike were looking for, especially if it’s been enough to tempt Bill Murray back into the fold to breath new life into his iconic Dr. Venkman character.
No word yet on whether Rick Moranis has been convinced to come out of retirement, or whether Annie Pots would return as the team’s secretary Janine Melnitz.
Hopefully, this is the first of many cast reveals over the next few weeks, and as soon as we know anything more we’ll be talking about it, right here on Two Beard Gaming.
