Whether you love them or hate them, the FIFA games are among the most popular videogames on the market today. Realising they’re made for life, EA has continued to pump money into the franchise, and have unveiled the latest edition at the pre-E3 2019 conference earlier today.
According to the developer, FIFA 20 will include an all-new FIFA street style mode called Volta, which they say will “take football back to the streets with the authentic culture, creativity, and style of the small-sided game”. Instead of the regulation 11-players per side, Volta mode will opt for either 3 or 5-a-side teams, which they believe will feel much more like the good old days when you had a kick around in the park with your mates.
This will be quite a departure for the FIFA games, which have traditionally been grounded in reality-based gameplay. Volta will be the developers first real dabbling in street games since 2012’s FIFA Street reboot, and will no doubt keep things feeling fresh when the title gets its release on September 27th.
