Last night saw the culmination of months and months of hard work, as All Elite Wrestling finally delivered their very first PPV – hell, their very first show ever in fact. It was a night of incredible matches, and surprises, but perhaps the biggest involved a former WWE Champion interjecting himself in one of the marquee matches.
If you’re not up to date with the PPV results, then now is probably the time to look away because the following lines WILL ABSOLUTELY INCLUDE SPOILERS!
During the heated “5 stars” contest between former IWGP Champion Kenny Omega and the first-ever Undisputed WWE World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho, the man once known as Dean Ambrose made his way through the crowd to a rapturous ovation from the sold-out MGM Grand Arena.
Using his former ring name of Jon Moxley, the former multi-time champion quickly laid waste to the former Y2J as well as the referee, before finally brawling through the arena with Omega, finishing him off with a Death Valley Driver off the set onto the cold hard floor, leaving Moxley standing tall as the show came to its thrilling conclusion.
Immediately following the event, VP Cody Rhodes – who battled his real-life older brother Dustin in the match of the night – proclaimed that the man we once knew as Dean Ambrose is “All Elite”, after signing a multi-year deal with AEW, and putting end to the persistent rumour that his departure from WWE was no more than a work.
Double or Nothing also included a host of other former WWE and WCW stars including Diamond Dallas Page, Tommy Dreamer, Glacier, and Bret Hart.
We’ll have a full review of the show in its entirety over the next few days.
