This week we were treated to the final trailer for the upcoming Godzilla King of the Monsters, and it was E-P-I-C! But now, thanks to those lovely people over at Rolling Stone we get a chance to listen to perhaps the most incredible track on the movie’s OST, ‘Godzilla’ by Serj Tankian.
The appropriately titled song was originally a sleeper hit for iconic hard-rock heroes Blue Öyster Cult, although it never achieved the mainstream success of their other titles, such as 1976’s ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’, which is widely regarded as one of the best rock songs ever produced.
Now though, the System of a Down frontman has breathed new life into the track, alongside Gene Hoglan and Dethklok, giving the camp classic a dark, menacing, yet fun new vibe. Bear McCreary, the composer known for his work on The Walking Dead, was also onboard to produce the final product.
You can check out the song in its bonkers entirety below, and Godzilla King of the Monsters on May 31st, when the big, bad lizard stomps its way into cinemas across the globe.
