Put On Your Happy Face – First Poster for ‘Joker’ Movie Revealed

Reading Time ~ 1 minute

It’s time to put on your happy faces people because Todd Phillips has dropped the first official poster for his Joker movie, courtesy of his Instagram account.

Joker will be a character-driven origin story of perhaps the most important villain in the history of comics. Although very little is known about a plot, we do know that the tone of the movie will be akin to classic Robert De Niro flick Taxi Driver with a little The King of Comedy thrown in for good measure. So, in other words, this will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before outside of the pages of DC Comics.

The poster is very basic, with simply a partial close-up of Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime, and a ‘coming soon’ tease, which to us indicates this will be a very stripped-back spin on the character previously brought to life on-screen by Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, and (shudder) Jared Leto.

Joker is pencilled in for an October 4th, 2019 release, which again tells us this ain’t your normal comic book fare which would almost certainly have been scheduled for a summer release, and stars Zazie Beats, Robert De Niro, Marc Maron, and Frances Conroy.

The teaser trailer should land tomorrow. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for more.
