Hands up who loves Marvel? Well if you’re hankering for a fix of even more of your favourite heroes and villains, but your relationship with Netflix has given you serious trust issues, look no further because the comics giant is teaming up with Hulu to bring you a whole host of brand new animated content.
According to a report we spotted on Den of Geek, the streaming service will revive some of Marvel’s lesser-known and forgotten titles including M.O.D.O.K., Hit-Monkey, Tugra & Dazzler, and perhaps most exciting of all – Howard the Duck.
Not everyone reading this will know who these characters are (shame on you), but they are some of the very coolest creations in the whole Marvel Universe, and it’s a crying shame they’ve been so neglected for all this time. In particular though, Howard the Duck is a cult hero and was the star of the very first Marvel movie ever. He’s also appeared in both Guardian’s of the Galaxy movies, and according to those in the know survived the epic Thanos finger click of doom. It’s about damn time he got the recognition he deserves.
Hulu has also stated that all of these shows will operate within the same universe, and will culminate in a special television event titles Marvel’s The Offenders.
The whole shebang will be produced by the Executive Vice President of Marvel’s television division – and perhaps the luckiest man on the whole planet – Jeph Loeb. No official release dates have been given yet, but there is hope the Howard the Duck show could be available as early as December this year. Let’s hope it leads to something even bigger for all of them.
We’ll have more updates when they drop.
********** UPDATE **********
We’ve just learned that Kevin Smith will be writing the Howard the Duck animated series!
