This week’s digital movie deal of the week is the 1996 sci-fi hit Independence Day which is currently available to purchase from £2.99. Check out the original trailer below:
It’s my turn to pick a movie from the Google weekly deals so naturally the offerings this week are a bit poor. There’s some ok stuff in there I guess, Snatch and Jumanji are pretty decent but by the same token the Emoji movie is in too which is significantly more shite. That being said I’ll go for Independence Day as my choice and I’m going with this for 3 main reasons, the first is that it’s a gloriously silly disaster film that is great for the fact that it’s 23 years old at this point, the special effects haven’t held up especially well but it hasn’t made the film less fun. The second is the speech made by Bill Pullman’s character during the course of the film, which is pretty famous at this point but no matter how many times it’s heard it still gives me goosebumps. The third is naturally Jeff Goldblum, it’s scientifically proven at this point that Goldblum makes all films at least 25% better just by being in it, even if just as a cameo. So yeah basically if you have never seen it, if you have an urge for a dumb but fun movie or you love Jeff Goldblum now is the perfect time to get this.
