Sometimes the internet is just plain weird. For example, for reasons known only to the people behind it, a meme featuring Scooby Doo’s beloved stoner Shaggy as a badass, Godlike dude took the internet by storm, bringing with it a wave of support for a movement in which fans wanted to see the character brought to life as a playable character in the new Mortal Kombat video game.
Things quickly got out of hand when a petition started to do the rounds and quickly picked up over 300,000 signatures. The groundswell behind the appeal quickly got the attention of Mortal Kombat 11‘s director Ed Boon, who only seemed to add fuel to the fire when he Tweeted a mock-up of Shaggy going toe-to-toe with MK favourite Scorpion, and in our opinion kicking the living Scooby Snacks out of him.

As far fetched as having a beloved kids TV show character appear in a blood-thirsty videogame might seem, it’s not actually impossible as Warner Bros. owns both properties. For now though it’s probably something that will remain an internet phenomenon, which is probably for the best considering just how terrified of everything Shaggy really is.
We’d pay to see his fatality though. Zoinks!
