All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has been the talk of the town ever since they formally announced they were a thing, back at the turn of the year. Ever since then speculation has been high as to which former – and current – WWE Superstars might make the jump to the newest wrestling promotion on the block. Well, although AEW hasn’t acquired any of the current WWE roster just yet, they have made it clear that they’re scouring the globe for the very best talent to bring into the fold and it looks like they’ve had success already.
At McAloon Productions’ Come Hell or High Water event in Atlanta, GA last night The Young Bucks made a surprise appearance to announce that they wanted the current Impact Tag Team Champions aka The Lucha Brothers to sign an exclusive deal with AEW. Although no paperwork was signed or exchanged, Pentagon Jr and Rey Fenix did agree to a handshake deal, seemingly signalling that they were all in with Cody Rhodes and company.
What this means for the Impact Tag titles is anyone’s guess, but it could signal a working agreement between AEW and the former TNA Wrestling group. If that’s the case then we could see top names like Chris Jericho appear in Impact which was unimaginable 12 months ago.
Speaking of Jericho, he would go on to Tweet – in character – about his disdain for Pentagon Jr and Rey Fenix joining AEW.
We’ll have more exciting AEW news as and when it breaks.
