Another popular Nintendo franchise is finally making the leap to mobile, as Nintendo has revealed it will finally bring Dr. Mario back to the forefront with Dr. Mario World.
Yes, that’s right. The world’s most unreliable plumber is masquerading as a medical professional once more in an all-new mobile adventure, which Nintendo is earmarking for a Summer 2019 release.
The game, which will be also be developed by LINE Corporation and NHN Entertainment, makes perfect sense really, considering the incredible success of games like Candy Crush Saga which is still going strong after 7 years on the app market. In fact, it wouldn’t be a stretch to suggest that games like Dr. Mario had a huge hand in the success of many of today’s popular mobile puzzle apps – and to be completely honest, we’re so excited about this news we could wee!
Details are incredibly limited at this time, but it’s safe to assume the dynamics of Dr. Mario World will remain pretty much identical to the original game which first appeared on the Game Boy way back in 1990. That’s a wise decision when you look at the mixed bag of success Nintendo has had over the years.
Whatever happens, this is a story we’ll be following closely, and if it leads to the game being ported to the Nintendo Switch sometime very soon (please), where in-app purchases don’t exist, then that would be even better!
