Reading Time ~ 5 minutes

Never ones to be stuck in the past, we here at Two Beard Gaming decided to look ahead to 2019’s most highly anticipated new movies and bring you our top 10 choices that you absolutely must watch when they roll into a cinema near you.

So, without any further ado, here’s our 10 New Movies We Can’t Wait to See in 2019.

SHAZAM! Trailer (2019)

Finally, DC looks to have taken its head out of its arse and lightened up, if the trailer for Shazam! is anything to go by.

Never more than a bit player for casual comic book fans, Shazam is fixing up to be DC’s biggest hit, opting for a similar approach to Marvel instead of going with dark brooding heroes who have mummy issues. The casting of Zachary Levi as the titular alter-ego of wimpy kid Billy Batson is genius, as fans of TV series Chuck can attest, Levi can really pull off the whole action hero with tongue firmly in cheek shtick really well.

Missing Link Trailer #1 (2019) | Movieclips Trailers

Stop motion animation geniuses Laika simply don’t make bad movies. Over the years they’ve blessed our eyeballs with such delights as Coraline and Paranorman, and in 2019 they’re returning to cinemas Missing Link, an action-packed adventure that sees the titular creature setting out on a trip across the globe to find his long-lost relatives.

Hugh Jackman (Logan), Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) are among the cast.

Holy balls! Jordan Peele is the new king of horror. If you’ve not watched the trailer for his highly anticipated follow up to the Academy Award-winning Get Out, then click the link above and get on it. We’ll warn you though – you’re never sleeping again.

HELLBOY Trailer (2019)

A whopping 15 years after making his big-screen debut, Mike Mignola’s horny little devil returns to cinemas in 2019, with David Harbour (Stranger Things) donning the red right hand in place of Ron Pearlman.

The first trailer ruffled a few feathers, but we’ve been promised a film that’s ultra-gory and more like a horror movie than the initial teaser would suggest. We’re not worried though – it’s co-written by Mignola and directed by Neil Marshall, the man behind Dog Soldiers and some of the more violent episodes of Game of Thrones.

POKEMON Detective Pikachu Trailer (2019)

The Pokémon franchise has been screaming out for a live-action movie for years, but no one was expecting what we actually got when the Detective Pikachu trailer landed – seemingly out of nowhere – back in November.

Gone are the cutesy animated friends we’ve come to know and love, replaced instead by creepy, realistic creatures who just so happen to be voiced by Ryan Reynolds. It’s Marmite casting for sure, but we’re expecting big things when this finally hits cinemas in May.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters - Official Trailer 2 - Now Playing In Theaters

The 2014 Godzilla movie was a bit of a sleeper for some. On the one hand, it was a giant improvement on the simply awful (except for the soundtrack) Roland Emmerich effort, but conversely, the filmmaker’s decision to keep the star of the movie hidden in the shadows for about 95% of the movie was a huge disappointment for people expecting an in-your-face, smash-the-absolute-shit-out-of-everything Kaiju movie.

From what little we’ve seen in the King of Monsters trailer, the 2019 Godzilla movie will meet fans expectations at last – and because of that, we’re pissing our pants with excitement.

TOY STORY 4 Teaser Trailer 2 (2019)

We still haven’t forgiven Disney for convincing us Woody, Buzz, and the gang were about to snuff it at the end of Toy Story 3, so imagine how on edge we are now that a fourth instalment is due, AND star Tim Allen has indicated it’s not going to have a happy ending?! WHY DISNEY?! WHYYY?! Do you just like to see grown bearded men cry? ANSWER MEEEEEEEE …

Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel - Trailer 2

If you watched Avengers: Infinity War right to the very end, then you may have been left scratching your head as to who Nick Fury summoned in the closing moments. I’m sure by now you’re more than aware that it was none other than Captain Marvel, one of the most powerful heroes in the entire Marvel Universe and without a doubt the game-changer when it comes to defeating Thanos.

But before she gets to tackle the purple-headed titan, Marvel wants us to find out a little about her past, which is why in March, a mere 2 months before the next Avengers flick, we’ll be treated to the Captain Marvel origin movie.

Star Wars Episode IX 2019

So far, we know bugger all about the neo-trilogy climax, except that it’s out in December and it’s going to tie up the whole Rey and Kylo Ren story that admittedly went a bit off the rails in recent years. Of course, there’s going to need to be a ton of damage control to ensure fans go home happy, after the backlash that followed the [SPOILER ALERT] death of Luke Skywalker, who apparently died of boredom according to some reviews.

To be completely honest though, we don’t care where you stand on the whole “Was The Last Jedi awful?” debate, you simply cannot help but be excited whenever a new Star Wars movie is released. However, there’s one movie that we’re even more excited to see in 2019. We bet you can’t guess what it is.

AVENGERS 4 ENDGAME Trailer (2019)

Let’s face it, even your granny can’t wait to see the 4th instalment in the Avengers saga, and we don’t blame her.

Although the filmmakers have kept the details of the movie under wraps, fans have already made up their minds that when it finally has its May 2019 release, Avengers: Endgame is going to be the biggest movie of all time.

If you haven’t watched the trailer yet, then do yourself a solid and check it out now – and when you’re done, tell us again why comic movies can’t be heartwrenching and beautiful?
